Shimokitazawa, a city in Tokyo, is a 界隈 "kaiwai" (meaning neighborhood), and in this case a subculture community of Idols. They are distinguished by a more artistic influence, shown through patterns and variations in their concepts and costumes. Tartan is also often associated with thrifting, and Shimokita is an area where you'll find many Op shops! It's a melting pot of fabrics and textures. The shirt sourced for this look was found at Tanpopo House, in Shimokitazawa. It was washed thoroughly before sewing.
